GET TO KNOW THE CLINICAL TEAM

I am a Peruvian therapist that grew up in the city of Cudahy so I am grateful to be in position where I can provide services to my Spanish speaking community. I received my education from UCLA and USC and my work is rooted in mental health, personal growth, radical self-care and self- esteem. I advocate, motivate and educate on innovative healing to achieve a wholesome life.
Over the last 12 years I've had the privilege of holding multiple roles within the therapy world. I was at schools, foster care, adoptions, military bases, hospitals, non-profits, private practices, community clinics, family resource centers, inpatient, outpatient programs and even the substance abuse world. This allowed me to work with folks from all walks of life. I tailor treatment to each individual and offer a safe environment where I listen without judging you, motivate and engage you. I bring years of experience, good energy, and unique interventions with a charismatic personality.

My name is Christian Chavez, I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker. As an immigrant who came to the United States at a young age, I am familiar with the struggles of marginalized, oppressed populations that do not have a strong voice in the community. I am a Hispanic male who was educated on the importance of mental health. I am a huge advocate in the Hispanic community regarding mental health. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Cal State Los Angeles and received my master’s degree from Cal State Long Beach. I consider myself an active learner who is always looking to get better at my craft. I do this to better serve the clients I work with and make the therapeutic process enjoyable and create a safe space.
I like to empower people in the therapeutic process and work as a team with clients to help them achieve their desired goals. I like to create a safe and welcoming environment so people could feel free to share without feeling like they are being judged. I have experience working with the population that have a problem with substance use that has negatively impacted their lives. I like to educate others on how cognitive distortions have a big impact on our behavior and how to help them reframe their thought process by implementing healthy coping skills.
